Using solar power and smart sensors, it delivers lights, audible warnings, and virtual gates for less than one-eighth the cost of traditional solutions, making rail safety accessible to every community.

Born From Tragedy, Built For Safety
Our flagship innovation, the SolPol® Railroad Safety System was developed after a preventable accident at a passive crossing, with a mission to save lives through accessible, renewable technology.
In April 2024, a train collision at an unprotected railroad crossing in Christian County, Illinois, claimed the lives of family members of URT’s National Sales Director. Sadly, this was not an isolated event. Across the U.S., there are more than 60,000 passive crossings, contributing to over 2,000 accidents and 250 deaths every year. While conventional warning systems exist, their $200,000+ price tag per crossing puts them far out of reach for many communities.
The SolPol® Railroad Safety System (SRS) solves this challenge. For under $20,000 per site, SRS provides flashing LED lights, audible warnings, and a solar-powered “virtual gate.” Built with durable fiberglass poles and designed to withstand winds up to 180 mph, it installs quickly, operates completely off-grid, and finally makes life-saving rail safety affordable.
